By Benchelo Editorial Team

This page explains, in plain FTC-style wording, how Benchelo makes money and how that money does and does not affect what we publish. It was last updated on 2 Nov 2026.

Some placements on Benchelo are paid. Every paid placement carries the label "Sponsored" inside the placement, in text a reader can see without hovering or clicking. A sponsored placement is advertising. It is not an editorial pick, it does not change the order of any comparison and it does not add a product to a list. If a sponsored product also appears in an editorial list, it earned that place on the published criteria and the placement had no part in the decision.

Some links on Benchelo are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, we may earn a commission from the vendor at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page code, as search engines and regulators require. A product with no affiliate link can rank first. A product with an affiliate link can rank last. Commission rates differ by vendor, so we exclude commission rate from our scoring inputs entirely. Our editors do not see commission rates when they order a comparison.

What money cannot buy

Money cannot buy a rank, a verdict, a place in a list, the removal of a drawback or a higher weighting for a criterion. Our scoring page publishes the weights for each category, and they add to 100. Those weights change only through an editorial decision recorded on that page, never through a commercial agreement.

Prices and dates

Every price on Benchelo comes from the vendor pricing page, with the date we checked it shown next to the price or in the sources list. Prices change. A vendor can change a price after our check date, and the vendor page, not our article, is the figure to trust at checkout. Money pages are re-checked every 45 days under our editorial policy.

How to question a placement

If a placement looks unlabelled, or a ranking looks bought, contact us with the page URL. We reply within 5 working days with the commercial status of the placement in question. If a label is missing, we add it and record the error.

Summary

Sponsored means paid and labelled. Affiliate means we may earn if you buy. Neither changes a ranking. That is the whole policy in 3 sentences, and the rest of this page only adds detail to it.
